Germany has some of Europe's strictest prepaid SIM rules: since 2017 every prepaid SIM must be verified with an ID document before it works, usually by video call or in a shop. On arrival day that's a hassle. A Germany eSIM is bought and installed before you travel, with no ID verification at checkout.
NoKYCsim checkout needs no ID upload and no account, and email delivery is optional. The plan is data-only, so your home number stays on your main SIM for calls and bank texts.
- No passport or registration
- Hotspot / tethering included
- QR delivery in minutes
- One-off price, no renewal
Why travelers choose a Germany eSIM without ID
O2 and Vodafone networks
Germany plans list O2 (Telefónica) and Vodafone, two of Germany's three national networks, so your phone can use whichever is stronger.
No ID verification
German prepaid SIMs need ID verification before activation. Our checkout needs no ID upload and no account.
Good value for longer trips
Bigger Germany plans bring the price per GB right down, so a month of maps, rail apps and video calls stays affordable.
Pay in crypto or card
Pay with crypto by following the invoice at checkout, or use a card. One price, no contract.
Germany eSIM coverage: cities, autobahns and the Deutsche Bahn
Coverage is strong in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne and other cities, with 5G widely available in urban areas. Our Germany plans currently list O2 and Vodafone, so your phone can use either network where both are available.
Germany is known for patchy signal on some train routes and in rural areas — the so-called Funklöcher — especially in hilly regions such as the Black Forest, the Bavarian Alps and parts of the east. Download tickets and offline maps before long Deutsche Bahn journeys, and don't rely on streaming between stations.
How much data do you need in Germany?
Maps and the DB Navigator app are light; streaming on an ICE adds up. Use these starting points.
| Trip | Typical use | Suggested plan |
|---|---|---|
| Berlin or Munich weekend | Maps, transit, messaging, photos | 1 GB · 7 days |
| One week, several cities by train | Rail tickets, navigation, social posts | 3 GB · 15 days |
| Oktoberfest or Christmas-market trip | Meet-ups, photos, video calls | 5 GB · 30 days |
| Month-long stay or remote work | Laptop hotspot, daily calls | 10–20 GB · 30 days |

How to set up your Germany eSIM
- Step 1
Check your phone
Make sure your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. On iPhone look for Add eSIM in Settings → Mobile/Cellular; on Android look under Settings → Network → SIMs.
- Step 2
Buy and save your QR code
Choose a plan, pay with crypto or card, and pick email delivery or a secret order key. No account and no ID upload.
- Step 3
Install before you leave
Scan the QR code on Wi-Fi at home and label the line "Travel". Check the plan's activation rules before you install, and keep the line's data off until you arrive.
- Step 4
Switch on when you land
At Frankfurt, Munich or Berlin Brandenburg, turn on the travel line and set it for mobile data. Enable data roaming for that line if the plan instructions say so, and check your train in DB Navigator before you leave the terminal.
Germany travel tips for staying connected
Use DB Navigator for trains
Deutsche Bahn's app sells tickets, shows platforms and warns about delays. Keep tickets saved offline for stretches without signal.
Consider the Deutschlandticket
The Deutschlandticket covers local and regional trains, buses and trams nationwide. It's a monthly digital subscription you can cancel, sold in transport apps.
Carry some cash
Card acceptance has improved, but some cafés, bakeries and small shops still prefer cash.
Expect gaps on trains
Signal can drop between cities, especially on regional lines. Download music and podcasts before long journeys.
Keep your home SIM for codes
Leave your usual SIM on for bank texts but turn off its data roaming, so only your Germany eSIM uses data.
